Composting
Composting for regenerative agriculture.
Composting transforms organic materials into biologically active soil amendments — one of the core tools Kinetra uses to rebuild degraded soils and restore biological activity to farmland.
Why composting matters
Degraded and sandy soils typically lack organic matter, biological activity and structure. Compost reintroduces all three — feeding soil biology, improving water retention, and building the structure that lets roots, water and nutrients move through soil properly.
How we produce compost
With New Beginnings Zimbabwe, we produce compost using the windrow method: organic matter and straw are laid out in long rows, then left to mature into finished compost over time. Our current programme has produced more than 3,000 metres of compost windrows as feedstock for Soil Enhancer, a natural fertiliser we co-developed and now bag for direct use in the field.
From windrow to field
Soil Enhancer is composted and bagged for direct use across our regenerative field trials, including the crop trials that produced a tobacco yield of 4.3 tonnes per hectare on regenerated land near Norton, Zimbabwe.
